| Bragging about a big catch at Gaston's July 2006 |

|
Lynn & I have been flying to Gaston's for many years enjoying great
trout fishing, usually staying two or three days at a time relaxing in the beautiful surroundings of the resort. Flying there from Memphis often on Sunday just for their fabulous brunch and returning the
same day. Flying has been my passion for a long time. Now that I have retired I hope my health will allow
me to fly for at least a few more years. However this was our last trip flying there until they do something to the grass
strip. It is so rough I would consider it dangerous, especially on takeoff; I was tossed into the air twice on takeoff before I
reached flying speed. The plane I fly, (Mooney)
does not have the oleo struts that most other general aviation planes have and does not absorb the bumps like a Piper or Cessna
and tends to make it bounce more on rough surfaces. Seems the strip has been getting rougher each year, it is at a point now
that I would advise to use extreme caution on landings and takeoffs. Until they do something to get the bumps out, any
future trips to Gaston's we make will be by automobile.
